Bridge --connecting the outside world.

Bridging --connecting , welcoming, inviting. By employing the historical cantilevered bridge structure system, Bhutans own masterpiece of engineering, it will create a distinct architectural form while metaphorically representing an opening door, a connection to the outside world. A blending of modern and traditional Bhutanese architectural representation is used to convey Bhutans journey toward the modern world, without losing the nation unique cultural identity. The transformative use of modern construction materials and technology with the traditional roof form and cantilevered bridge structure creates a distinct profile and shadowy patterns. The patterns projected on the building faade recall the world-famous Bhutan textile patterns, and these change throughout the day according to the angle of the sun, enhancing the sense of the conference center significance. Energy saving is another priority; solid walls, voids, inner-courts, and shading devices must be carefully proportioned.
