Muang Thai Life Assurance Phatra Insurance Auditorium is a large office development expanding from an existing 12-story building. The project consists of a staff training center, an auditorium, conference and meeting rooms, and multipurpose rooms. The design drew upon local architectural characteristics by featuring open space in the middle of clusters, and an open basement. Many large plants, from big trees to different types of ivy, were used to enhance the natural atmosphere. Exterior building materials were selected to fit in with existing colors and styles to maintain continuity, while internal building materials were exploited for their characteristic features. To foster good public relations, parts of the development were planned as public exhibition areas. Access, circulation, and energy conservation were high priorities. The building design was open to make use of natural light and reflective glass was used to reduce heat radiation. Rather than using a large, single system for the whole building, the air-conditioning system was split into smaller multiple units to reduce energy consumption out of office hours.
