PANYAVEJ HOSPITAL

The integration of the Baan Chiang ancient civilization with modern medical technology is the guiding principle in designing this hospital in northeastern Thailand. The circulation of hospital users and staff is separated and configured to allow the circulation flow among departments both vertically and horizontally. For this, as well as a concern for energy conservation and safety, the form of the building is clearly divided into two parts. The west wing consists of the outpatient division, which operates during the day, while the east wing houses the emergency department, the night time outpatient division, x-ray rooms, and a laboratory, operating 24 hours a day. Reflecting the guiding principle, the material used expresses an integration of unique local characteristics and modern technology. This, in turn, reflects the goal of the hospital, which is to support local needs with modern technology.
