As the tourism and hotel management industry prioritizes practical experience, the primary goal was to create a facility where students could engage in a hands-on approach to their education.

The result is a building which contains an operational hotel, spa, multipurpose hall and restaurant, all run by students, as well as demonstration kitchen and a life-size airplane interior mock-up. The last is perched on the uppermost story in a triple-height room, enclosed by glass curtain wall so the mock-up’s distinctive silhouette can be seen from the outside.

The tower’s stacked form represents the mixture of different functions contained within and was inspired by the idea of a sandwich, with its multi-layering of different ingredients.

The university emphasizes creativity across all its programs, and the irregular arrangement is also a way to make the building appear less formal and more playful.

The hotel is set in the middle of the tower, with the lobby on the second floor in order to take advantage of the surrounding greenery and especially the tall mature trees.

Likewise, the glazed façade provides visibility to the activities within, making the building feel open and dynamic, while the cladding material is rendered in a timber-like color to blend in with its surrounding.
